Meet Lety Vergara

"I learned to cook with my Mexican maternal grandmother. She taught me the secrets and cooking techniques that I now apply in my cooking classes.

From a very young age, I was very close to my grandmother, and I loved her very much. With her I shared many moments at home and especially in the kitchen, because she lived with me and my parents, and I grew up with her, until adolescence. After she passed away and I felt her absence very much, but I never forgot her sage advice and culinary teachings from her that remain with me to this day.

I saw my grandmother prepare sauces, stews and many other dishes. To such an extent was she her traditional style, that she used the volcanic stone molcajete (mortar) to grind all kinds of ingredients, including meat.

That's why I understood that cooking is very hard work, but doing it for those around you, like my grandmother did, is showing that you love them. And that love grows and matures over time. That is why my motto: Cooking is loving others".
